Well, I was right...that was my last pregnancy post. Hooray! Words cannot describe how amazing and complete my life is right now. Kipton made his entrance into the world on Monday, October 3rd at 4:40 PM weighing 8 pounds and 8 ounces and 20 inches long. He is absolutely beautiful and I can't thank God enough for bringing him into our lives. People say it will change your life forever, but you can't actually understand this until you experience it yourself. Kipton has changed our lives in so many ways, but I welcome every bit of it! Never would I have thought I would be happy waking up a million times during the middle of the night. But when my alarm goes off to get up and feed the little guy, I can't help but smile and say a prayer thanking God for bringing this wonderful blessing into my life.
My goal is to update the blog weekly at first with any changes or pictures of Kipton. I'm sure once he gets older that is going to change to a monthly update, but we'll see. :)
ON OUR WAY TO THE HOSPITAL
Labor and Delivery:
As I said before Kipton was born on October 3rd, but Matt and I actually checked into the hospital on October 2nd at 3:00 PM because I was induced at 39 1/2 weeks. Little did I know I was already having contraction that morning before church. I told Matt I thought I had a stomach ache, because that's what it felt like but apparently I was already going into labor! Once we arrived at the hospital I was given some medicine to help speed things along, and then at 2:30 AM they started pitocin (have no idea if I spelled that right) to help me dilate. At 7:00 AM Dr. Fiore broke my water and then the contraction REALLY picked up (so much that I got sick... Matt was a trooper for that). The doctor said, "well, hopefully we'll have this baby out by 4:00 this afternoon!" I looked at Matt and said, there is NO way I'm going through this intense of labor/contractions for the next 9 hours...so I opted out for the epidural. A-M-A-ZING. That's all that needs to be said about the epidural. But, as the doctor predicted, around 3:30 I hit the big 10 cm, and I started pushing around 4:15 and the little guy entered the world at 4:40. It was a very long labor, but very quick delivery and everything went very smoothly so I cannot complain!

First night and our stay at the hospital:
Our stay at the hospital was very laid back. We had A LOT of visitors, but I'm glad we did. We sent Kipton to the nursery at night and we actually were able to sleep because Kipton sleep ALL the time. He wouldn't even wake up to eat without us stripping him down and tickling his feet. :) The car ride home from the hospital was interesting to say the least. Kipton did NOT like his car seat and screamed all the way from the hospital to the Oakwood exit. I was an emotional wreck and was crying the whole entire way myself because I couldn't do anything to get him calmed down...all the while Matt is driving like an idiot and filming the whole thing. That video will be funny later...but not right now.

First night home:
The first night home was stressful because of the car ride, but once we got you home and settled in things were good. I told myself I would NEVER let my baby sleep in my bed, but I quickly ate my words when that was the only thing that calmed Kipton down the first night. We haven't had to do that anymore since then...but the first night we did whatever it took to make you happy....even if that meant breaking momma's rules.
First week home:
Matt was able to take off a whole week from work and stay home with us. Matt is amazing by the way and a wonderful father (as I knew he would be). We had you at home on Thursday, but on Friday we went to see the Pediatrician and your jaundice level had risen to a 19 from a 11 when we were in the hospital. So, we had to put you on "the tanning bed". We could get off of it except for feedings and diaper changes, which killed us because we couldn't hold you or cuddle with you. We introduced the paci to you these few days because it was the only thing that could console you because we couldn't hold you. But you were cleared on Sunday and doing just fine so things got back to normal and Daddy was a happy man because he could hold you again.
We gave you your first bath, which you did not like very much. (I think you just don't like being cold)

Second week home:
Your personality is really starting to shine. You are smiling and cooing when we talk to you and kiss you on the cheek. You love playing on your activity mat. You LOVE to eat and are going to be one chunky monkey. You are very noisy (especially when you eat), and make a lot of grunting noises. You like your swing and love cuddling with us by laying on your tummy on our chests.

You are absolutely amazing, beautiful, sweet, and perfect! Everyone says you look like your daddy, but hopefully you'll have some traits like your momma. :) You are a true blessing sent to us from God.
We love you Kipton Brian Reynolds.
